Cat Turner moved from Scottsdale, Arizona to Huntsville about 6 years ago due to husband transferred with Boeing.  A career professional in arts and events management, and then working for Scottsdale Arts, she was concerned about what type of arts scene she would find in a town the size of Huntsville.    Cat was pleasantly surprised at the amount and quality of Arts that Huntsville has.

Cat and her husband have 2 daughters, a senior and junior at Sparkman High.  Both are very arts inclined.

Cat has worked on events her whole career, including not only numerous art shows but also air shows, music tours and more.  She h Has worked in the arts and hospitality industries for over 30 years.  She worked several years for TBA Global producing corporate events.  When she lived in Houston working for Pace, she was on tour with George Strait for 4 years, managing sponsorships.  Cat has “done it all” from selling vending space to George Strait stadium events.  She now applies all that expertise to the Arts Huntsville.

Once plugging in to the arts and hospitality scene in Huntsville, Cat attended several Hospitality Association meetings, and she crossed paths in her work with several people involved the Association.  This inspired her to join and contribute to the organization.  Cat says that “Collaboration is always important – we have a lot of different types of members all with a common goal to make Huntsville a great place to visit and live.”  As to areas to continue to improve, she says that sometimes she finds it difficult to keep up with everyone and key contacts as there is a lot of movement that happens in the hotel industry.   Communicating new members and key personnel at new / moved properties could help keep everyone up to date on who’s where, and who’s new.

As for exciting upcoming events, the Concert in the Park series starts in June (June 3 through Aug 5) – you can’t miss the first two because they are going to be HUGE!
